About one hour north of Austin in Killeen, TX a suspicious device left on top of a truck in a residential neighborhood caused the evacuation of 20 surrounding city blocks. The Fort Hood bomb squad and Killeen Fire Department responded and determined that the device was not explosive and that the area is deemed safe.

The incident started at 9 a.m this morning when a man leaving a friends house saw the device, took a picture, and then showed it to the truck owner. Not knowing what it was the owner then decided to call police. As of now emergency workers are gathering evidence from the scene and what the device is has not been determined.

Just one day removed from the Fort Hood shooting that injured 16 people and left four dead the city is not taking any chances and making sure the people are safe is a top priority.
