Suspects in Jan. 18 car chase identified

The driver who led Columbia County law enforcement on a high-speed chase through several cities has been identified, as has his passenger, according to the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office.

The driver was identified as Jonathan Walker, 23, of Florida. He also goes by Dwayne Dixon. The passenger was a 27-year-old man named Marcus Emmanuel Thomas, and he is also from Florida. Both men are facing a range of charges including attempt to elude in a vehicle, attempt to elude on foot, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, unlawful entry into a motor vehicle, possession of a stolen vehicle, reckless endangering and numerous thefts.

The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office and Rainier Police Department are working together to solve recent thefts that they believe are connected to Walker and Thomas. Law enforcement expects additional charges to come as the investigation continues.

Thomas has previous weapons convictions in the state of Florida; Walker has a past arrest record that includes domestic assault, battery, disturbing the peace, larceny, theft, robbery, strong arm robbery, possession of marijuana, loitering, prowling, and missile into a dwelling ,vehicle, building or aircraft. All of Walker’s arrests listed here are from Florida as well.

Due to Thomas’ injuries, sustained in the crash on Jan. 18, he was released from custody to obtain additional medical treatment.
