Suspects at large after Watsonville armed bank robbery

Two armed bank robbers remain at large this afternoon following the robbery of a Comerica Bank on Main Street in Watsonville, police are reporting.

According to Watsonville police, two men entered the bank at about 2:40 p.m. wearing masks and brandishing handguns. They performed a “take over” style robbery, police say, and fled with an undisclosed amount of cash in a stolen 2000 Cadillac Escalade. The vehicle, which had been reported stolen out of Salinas last night, was recovered shortly after the robbery, but the suspects were never found. It is currently being processed for evidence.

There were about six customers and 10 employees inside the bank at the time of the robbery. No shots were fired during the incident and no injuries were reported, according to authorities.

The first suspect was about 5’10” to 6’ with a thin build. He was wearing a red hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans, and tan gloves. The second suspect was about 5’8” to 5’10” with a medium build. He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans, and black gloves. Both suspects had covered their faces with black masks.
