Manchester Police arrested two people when they responded to La Quinta Hotel at 21 Front Street just after midnight on Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2013 for a report of possible drug activity in one of the rooms.
According to a press release by the Manchester Police Department, Christopher Adler, 27, of Hooksett, NH was charged with Resisting Arrest and Disorderly Conduct. During the booking process, Adler was found concealing approximately 9.5 grams of suspected heroin. He was additionally charged with Possession of a Narcotic with the Intent to Distribute and Falsifying Physical Evidence.
Police also charged the woman in the room, Amanda Montplaisir, 25, of Manchester with Possession of a Narcotic and Possession of a Controlled Drug.
Police recounted the incident saying, upon arrival at the hotel, officers spoke with the hotel guest who reported hearing a disturbance in the neighboring room. He told officers he could hear several voices and portions of conversations that led him to suspect the people inside the room were involved in drug activity. More concerning were statements he heard indicating a female may have overdosed and was not responding to efforts to wake her.
Based on this information, police responded to the room to investigate further. As they approached the room, the officers could hear voices coming from inside the room just before they knocked at the door and announced their presence. There was no response from within the room when officers knocked. Based on the information provided to them that suggested there was a medical emergency occurring inside the room, officers forced entry inside.
Once inside, they confronted two men and a woman. One of the men was not immediately compliant with commands to surrender and engaged the officers in a minor struggle as they attempted to restrain him. He was also shouting at officers, causing a general disturbance inside the hotel. He was arrested and identified as Christopher Adler. His actions led to the Resisting Arrest and Disorderly Conduct charges against him.
Officers determined the woman detained in the room was not in need of medical assistance. However, she was found in possession of several Clonazepam and Seroquel pills and was subsequently arrested and charged with Possession of a Narcotic and Possession of a Controlled Drug. She was identified as Amanda Montplaisir.
The third person in the room was not charged with any criminal offenses. However, he was taken into Protective Custody based on his apparent impairment.
Police collected a number of items found inside the room indicative of drug activity including, needles, spoons, baggies and a scale. Additional information gained during the course of the investigation indicated Adler was involved in drug sales.
