Police recounted the incident saying, upon arrival at the hotel, officers spoke with the hotel guest who reported hearing a disturbance in the neighboring room. He told officers he could hear several voices and portions of conversations that led him to suspect the people inside the room were involved in drug activity. More concerning were statements he heard indicating a female may have overdosed and was not responding to efforts to wake her.

However, she was found in possession of several Clonazepam and Seroquel pills and was subsequently arrested and charged with Possession of a Narcotic and Possession of a Controlled Drug. She was identified as Amanda Montplaisir.
The third person in the room was not charged with any criminal offenses. However, he was taken into Protective Custody based on his apparent impairment.
