A man caught driving a stolen minivan was run over by the vehicle when he jumped out and tried to run from officers.
So far, police have not released his name or the name of the woman who was arrested shortly after the incident.
Around 3:45 a.m., officers spotted two stolen vehicles, a Dodge Voyager and a Dodge Ram, following each other on Candler Road at Glen Valley Drive, DeKalb County police Lt. Dane Cunningham said.
When officers got behind the vehicle at 2638 Golf Valley Drive, “the driver of the Dodge Voyager jumped out of the vehicle and ran in front of it while it was still in motion,” Lt. Cunningham said. “The driver was struck by the vehicle which continued over an embankment.”
Police found the second vehicle later in the 3300 block of Glenwood Road, but the suspects were gone.
The 25-year-old Voyager driver was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital in stable condition, and is facing auto theft charges, Lt. Cunningham said
A woman who was in the Dodge Ram was arrested at the scene, Lt. Cunningham said. But he did not release any details on the charges she faces.
