Residents of an Oregon Indian reservation are being awakened during the night to frightening screeches that they think are Bigfoot sounds, according to International Science Times on Saturday, Jan. 26, 2013. The sounds are coming from a swamp nearby.
The sounds are so frightening that animals and humans are sticking close to home. You can listen to the haunting sounds here on Daily Mail.
Denise Minthorn describes the sounds to Daily Mail as the combination of barroom brawls and laughter.
There is another recording of Bigfoot sounds here from Colleen Chance, a tribal housing authority employee. Oregon Live talked to her:
Colleen Chance, a tribal housing authority employee, keeps a recording of the howls on her iPhone.
"It's kind of spooky," she said. "Some say it's foxes, some say it's a female coyote and some say it's Sasquatch. I don't know what it is."
International Science reports that the local speculation is that the sounds are coming from a young Sasquatch separated from its family. Oregon and Washington have long been the ground zero of Bigfoot or Sasquatch activity, and the ancient tribal legends include mentions of the large, hairy creature.
Despite the skeptics, there are quite a few reputable people who believe the existence of Bigfoot is a possibility. You can read here about the television program, "Finding Bigfoot," on A & E. There is an attached video that explains the acceptable methods for trying to spot a Bigfoot.
