Suspect shot in theater after chasing girlfriend with gun

A suspect that was shot in a theater is now in critical condition. The incident took place in at theater located in San Diego. According to police, the man was having a dispute with his girlfriend, which later got out of control. Reportedly, the man started chasing his girlfriend across the mall parking lot with a gun. On Jan. 12 Yahoo! reported that after police were notified of this incident and went to investigate, the man hid from authorities in a crowded movie theater.

Shortly after police confronted the man hiding in the Reading Cinemas theater, he was shot. The shooting took place around 4 p.m. and no one besides the suspect sustained injuries, said a police spokesman. Police haven't released further details regarding the shooting as of yet. The suspect was taken to a nearby hospital with life-threatening injuries.

An eyewitness of the incident had this to say,

"There were 20 police cars blocking the entrance, then the fire truck and the ambulance rushed in," Krongard said. "Then we saw seven cops with what looked like rifles, then paramedics went into the theater, " said Steve Krongard, the owner of the Nickel City arcade.
