Suspect in Detroit triple shooting turns himself in

A man suspected of shooting three family members, killing two, turned himself in to a local hospital Saturday morning for a psychiatric evaluation. He was found to be mentally unstable.

On Friday, 28-year-old FerDarius Shine was at his grandmother’s house in the 13500 block of Winthrop, near Greenfield and I-96 on Detroit’s west side.

He began an incoherent rant about God and the devil. Then Shine, who had a permit to carry a concealed weapon, began shooting.

He fatally shot his 66-year-old grandmother and 48-year-old aunt. Both were dead at the scene.
Shine also shot Hospital his 7-year-old daughter. She is in critical condition at Sinai-Grace.

Shine’s mother was able to persuade him to stop shooting. He then left the scene on his bicycle.

While police searched for Shine, the suspect turned himself in at an area hospital at about 1:30 a.m. Saturday morning.
