A young man from Long Beach who was arrested last week in the death of a young Long Island woman is due back in court on Friday.
Earlier this week, Maxwell Sherman appeared in court to face a felony charges. He is accused of murdering Lauren Daverin, a young woman from Lynbrook, who was found dead on a Rockville Centre footbridge last week. While in court, his lawyer invoked his right to a speedy trial.
It is unclear so far exactly what his relationship was with the victim, Daverin. Daverin, who had married last year to an Air Force pilot, attended school in both Lynbrook and Malverne.
The tragic case has created a great deal of local media interest. Today, Daverin was laid to rest by her family, at a funeral hom in Hicksville. Hundreds of mourners came out to support Daverin's family, and friends.
As this case progresses, it will be important to focus on the victim, and the life that has been taken.
