A man on probation was arrested Wednesday in the death of a 20-year-old man who was shot multiple times inside his apartment in Atlanta.

Mr. Derrico Thomas, 30, of Atlanta, was charged with murder in the shooting that happened on Aug. 29 at the Brentwood Village apartments at 1975 Allison Court, according to Atlanta police.

The Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the victim as Mr. Orlando Young. Still, police have not said what, if any, connection the suspect had with the victim. They also have not released a motive for the murder.

Around 11:45 p.m. that Thursday officers responded to Apartment D2 after getting a report of a person injured, police spokeswoman Officer Kim Jones said.

They found in the apartment in disarray and the man dead. He had been shot several times, Officer Jones said.
It’s unclear how police months later were able to link Mr. Thomas to the crime.

He was also charged with possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, probation violation for fleeing and attempt to elude as well as aggravated battery, according to the Fulton County jail booking records.
