A 29-year-old Atlanta man was shot multiple times, wrapped in a blanket and dumped in a wooded area in northwest Atlanta last month.
And on Tuesday police said they have arrested the man they believe killed him.
Mr. Wayne Welbon, 25, was charged with murder in the Feb. 22 shooting death of Mr. Taurean Reeves, Atlanta police spokesman Officer John Chafee said.
Acting on a tip, officers last month drove to the area of Brooks and Ava avenues where they were told they would find a body, according to the police report.
Shortly after 5 p.m. they spotted a large form wrapped in a white material in a wooded area.
"Upon closer inspection, it was determined that the form was a body wrapped in both a piece of fabric or blanket and clear, heavy-gauge plastic sheeting," police said.
It’s unclear how long Mr. Reeves had been dead before his body was found. It was also unclear where he was killed and why.
Mr. Welbon, whose criminal past includes arrests for simple battery, child cruelty and drug charges, was being held without bond Wednesday at the Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office, according to booking records.
