A 20-year-old Conway man accused in the Tuesday evening shooting death of 19-year-old Coastal Carolina University student, Anthony Darnell Liddell, was arrested Friday afternoon.
According to a report on MyrtleBeachOnline, Marquis Spencer McDonald turned himself into authorities. No information on a motive for the shooting has been released.
CCU Public Safety officials would only confirm that a suspect had been arrested and charged with Liddell's murder. Calls to Martha Hunn, CCU's Director of News and Public Affairs were directed to voice mail and have not yet been returned.
McDonald reportedly has two drug charges pending that were filed in October. McDonald was also convicted of assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature in 2010, according to court records. McDonald was sentenced under the Youthful Offender Act to a period of six years on that charge, but that sentence was suspended to 18 months of probation.
Liddell was shot Tuesday evening at 7:22 p.m. at University Place residence hall, near the CCU campus, and died about an hour later at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center.
