The mere word 'Sushi' tends to make most people shivver at the thought of raw fish. What they don't know is that sushi doesn't have to be raw and most sushi restaurants serve more than raw salmon rolls. Each restaurant on Upper Union Street has a personality of its own but Mr Wasabi (1671 Union Street) is the only one with soy sauce.

A table favorite and healthy appetizer to start with is Edamame ($3) which is a steamed soy bean best flavored with salt. To eat them like a pro, pop out the beans and put the rest in a bowl to the side. Another option is seared tuna ($7). Seared Tuna is pieces of pepper seasoned tuna on top of a salad with sallot balsamic vinegar. Only for those fish lovers who don't mind eating some raw fish!

For lunch, Mr.Wasabi offers Bento Boxes or special lunch boxes that come with soup or salad, rice, california roll & shumai and a main protein of your choosing. A great deal for only $8-9 as long as you get there before 3:30pm!

Their dinner menu is extensive and anything on there is cooked fresh and tastes wonderful. There are so many variations for sushi, you have to find one you like. Try the specially named Schenectady roll with salon, eel, avocado and a crunch tobiko on the top for the perfect texture mix of soft fish and crunch.

Wanna know a secret? They don't have a dessert menu but ask for mochi which they offer in various flavors which is rice paste filled with ice cream. It's most definitely worth a taste!! As long as you live within 3 miles and ordered at least $15, they'll deliver- they'll even deliver the mochi too. Tanoshimu (Enjoy)!
