The Theatre at Raritan Valley Community College in Branchburg will kick off its Club28 series with Susan Werner’s Hayseed Project, Thursday, October 17, with performances at noon and 7 p.m.
Hayseed, Susan Werner’s newest CD, contains 12 songs focusing on such topics as farming, rural America, food safety, and the comic potential of herbicides. Werner grew up on a family farm in eastern Iowa where her parents still farm. In Hayseed, she returns to the language and characters she knows best.
A classically trained and jazz-inspired singer, Werner will be performing these and other original works on the Theatre at RVCC’s stage. The Chicago Tribune called Werner “one of the most innovative songwriters working today.”
Tickets for Club28 performances cost $10 for the noon performances and $25 for the 7 p.m. performances. Each noon performance is set in on-stage theatre-style seating and is approximately one hour in length. The evening shows, set in a relaxed, on-stage cabaret setting, are approximately two hours long.
Other offerings in the Club28 series include Outer Bridge Ensemble, November 14; Robin Spielberg Holiday Concert, December 12; Tim Farrell, March 20; and The International String Trio, May 1.
