“I can’t believe it,” said my friend Marty of WeHo, who was almost moved to tears when he heard that the curtain was closing on long-running, epically popular Fabulous Palm Springs Follies. “I just never thought the show would end the performances were fabulous.”
Sadly to say many Gays and straights alike are sorry to see the end to the performances that have been seen my more than three million people during its last 22 seasons. The Follies first show was in December 1936. On November 1, 2013 Susan Anton will help bring the curtain down on the show with a special holiday tribute.
The Fabulous Palm Springs Follies pay homage to the music and dance of Mid-Century America with a cast of world-renowned line Long-Legged Lovelies and Follies Gentlemen, all ranging in age from 55 to 84 dressed in lavish, outlandish costumes. Performances take place in downtown Palm Springs’ historic Plaza Theatre, a charming, neon-encrusted old movie house, which is an attraction unto itself.
