Shannon Elkins was a bit of an oddity during "Survivor: Nicaragua." On paper, this guy looked like guy was perfect for the gang thanks to his muscular build and life experience. However, he really just didn't mesh will with some members of his tribe -- not only that, but his off-the-rails performance at tribal council managed to turn more people against him.
On Thursday, I had an opportunity to take part in the conference call for Shannon. Due to some technical issues on this end, the answers are in a bit of a different format than usual.
Did you know you were going home at Tribal?
- Shannon first of all knew that he was going home before tribal council and so he felt no need to keep his opinions to himself.
- The infamous "are you gay?" speech with Sash was actually the result of a drawn-out fight in which Sash started by calling him a liar. Shannon does regret stereotyping gay people and New York City, but said that he is not the only one in the world guilty of this.
- He attributed his departure from the game so early to Russell, who changed how tribes perceive "strong players." Now that he is gone, everyone will appear stronger.
- He was also not triyng to demean women in his words -- rather, he was just trying to be wary of Brenda.
- He actually wishes that Alina and "Fabio" had actually voted to get rid of him, so the targets would not hit them next.
- He actually now wants Brenda to win, since she is actually playing and controlling the tribe.
