Several of the castaways were gunning for Candice the minute they returned from the previous episode's tribal council. They were angry at how easily she flipped sides, and Rupert felt like she was no longer worthy of being called a hero and no longer on their side.
For a moment I thought Rupert was going home. He decided it was time to be honest with Russell, and he came out swinging. He told him he was a horrible person, and he told him he (Russell) disgusted him every time he lied on the life of his children. Rupert was already on thin ice with Russell at this point. Rupert is always trying stir up Russell's emotions, and Russell was tired of putting up with it. He put a second target on his back when he decided to pretend he had found the hidden immunity idol. Russell decided it would be best to split the votes to flush the idol out of Rupert, a plan that Colby told Rupert about.
Truth is - Sandra has the idol!
