"Survivor: Heroes vs. Villains" won't premiere on CBS until February 11, but as with every season you can expect a profile of each contestant here leading up to the 20th edition of the popular reality competition.
Today, the focus is on Colby Donaldson.
Name: Colby Donaldson
Age: 35
Occupation: TV personality
Location: Los Angeles, California
Past seasons: "Survivor: Australia," "Survivor: All-Stars"
Tribe: Heroes
Claim to fame: Colby is one of the biggest physical threats to ever play "Survivor;" it also goes in his favor that he's one of the most popular. Colby was the "southern gentleman" in Australia, though he had an infamous rivalry with Jerri Manthey. He ended up taking Tina Wesson to the end over Keith Famie, and that decision ended up costing him a million dollars. In "All-Stars," Colby just didn't seem to have his head in the game and was taken out early.
Is he an All-Star? Some people could say that Colby doesn't deserve to be a part of "Heroes vs. Villains" due to his poor showing in "All-Stars," but I really don't see any doubt in putting the guy on this season. When you think back to some of the early players who defined "Survivor," Colby is right up there with Richard Hatch and Ethan Zohn. Since Rich and Ethan weren't able to make the trip, Colby is a worthy representative.
Analysis: It's been a long time since Colby has gone deep in the "Survivor" game; as a matter of fact, 17 seasons have past since "Australia." He is a smart, savvy guy with a knack for competing in challenges, and he also could form a solid alliance with fellow "alpha males" like Rupert, JT, and Tom Westman. The biggest weakness for Colby is that he is sometimes too nice for his own good. We saw that when he kept Tina around.
Prediction: Jeff Probst is hyping the return of Colby as something special, especially since he keeps pointing out that he didn't do some well in his second chance at the game. I'm actually torn on how he will do this time, but it's probably safe to say he won't be among the first few out. He's smart enough to get himself deep in the game, but there are also a few people on here (like Jerri) who will be gunning for him. I think Colby will probably head out right before the jury for one reason: with the exception of Rupert, the other male heroes are from later seasons and may know each other better. Friendships play a big role on this show.
