'Survivor: Heroes vs. Villains' castaway spotlight: Benjamin 'Coach' Wade

CBS

"Survivor: Heroes vs. Villains" won't premiere on CBS until February 11, but as with every season you can expect a profile of each contestant here leading up to the 20th edition of the popular reality competition.

Today, the focus is on Benjamin "Coach" Wade.

Name: "Coach" Wade

Age: 38

Occupation: Former soccer coach / orchestra conductor

Location: Susanville, California

Past season: "Survivor: Tocantins"

Tribe: Villains

Claim to fame: Coach is one of the most hated (and occasionally loved) contestants in "Survivor" history, mainly because of his ridiculous allusions to ancient proverbs, his promise do everything with "honor and integrity," his resemblance to Steven Seagal, and his "true-life stories" about Amazon natives. He placed fifth in "Tocantins" after attempting to form a "warrior alliance" with Tyson and JT.

Is he an All-Star? Without a doubt. From the first episode of "Tocantins," it was obvious that Coach would be around for another season in the future. Love him or hate him, but he's a big character and he realizes that. Is it possible that he focuses too much on being a character on "Survivor?" Probably so, but that attitude makes him a blast and even a bit unpredictable. As long as there's only one Coach on a season, his shtick works well.

Analysis: From a personal standpoint, I'm a big Coach fan. I think he's (unintentionally) hilarious, offbeat, and different than anyone else we've seen on the show. So I want to see him go far. He has a tendency to annoy people, and sometimes he sputters out physically; however, he has one major advantage: no one takes him seriously. If he continues to act ridiculous, he could find himself going far in the game.

Prediction: For the reason I mention above, I think Coach is destined to be in the final three. Will he win? Probably not, since I'm not sure he's sneaky enough to make the right moves and get the jury to respect his gameplay. Someone will probably bring him along to the end, knowing that they can beat him. The best shot Coach has is if he composes another one of those epic poems for the final tribal council.

Ah, a coach fan you profess...I agree he is unintentionally hilarious...where I disagree with you is I don't think he'll make it to the final three, he'll be lucky to make it to the jury. This game has the potential to be brutal and his game play at times quite bizaar isn't going to sit well with seasoned players, there are many on the teams that have proven they don't suffer fools lightly and my thoughts about coach is he is a fool that only was tolerated by younger players.
