'Survivor: Caramoan - Fans vs Favorites' Episode 6 recap

Tonight’s episode of Survivor: Caramoan picked up with the favorites after they unanimously voted Brandon out. Back at camp, Corinne and Phillip were the most fired up as they discussed Brandon’s outburst in front of the fans. Corinne even felt frustrated that no one from her tribe stood up for her or Phillip. Phillip couldn’t understand why Brandon hated him so much, since they had never exchanged cross words.

The fans received treemail about a Reward Challenge. Reynold hoped for a shift in the game as the tribe headed off to meet Jeff and the favorites. Jeff asked how watching Brandon’s departure helped the fans – Michael said it helped them to feel something positive together, instead of the rain and the hunger. Matt added that their idea that the favorites tribe was one big, happy family might not have been the right idea. Phillip said camp was harmony, and they all got a full night’s sleep. Jeff then told everyone to drop their buffs, because they were switching tribes and handed everyone an egg. They had to smash it on themselves to reveal a color and figure out which tribe they were part of. The new Gota included Eddie, Reynold, Andrea, Malcolm, Sherri, Erik, and Brenda; while the new Bikal trible was Corinne, Phillip, Michael, Matt, Cochran, Julia, and Dawn. Instead of a Reward Challenge, both tribes were sent back to their new camps for fresh rice and beans.

Gota was excited to welcome their new tribe members and felt they would dominate challenges. Immediately, Reynold and Eddie started talking to Erik and Malcolm about Sherri going after them. They also said they were all for voting Sherri out, which threw up red flags for Erik. Meanwhile, Sherri filled Andrea and Brenda in on all of the on goings of her tribe.

Over at Bikal, Corinne started telling the camera all about how she loves gays and was ready to turn on her original tribe to team up with Michael. (Uh, okay?) Phillip took a liking to Julia and tried to plant a seed with her. She wondered why he was talking to her, but she agreed to keep it to herself.

Malcolm and Andrea walked off into the woods together and filled each other in on what they had learned. Both were very excited to join such a dysfunctional tribe. Andrea also asked Malcolm about having an Immunity Idol, since she had a dream about it. He assured her that he did not have one, even though he had looked, and told the camera he is an accomplished liar with women.

Corinne was frustrated to learn that Phillip had talked to Julia about flipping, so she reported back to Dawn. They agreed they couldn’t leave Phillip alone.

Next up was the first Immunity Challenge between the new tribes. Each tribe had to send out two people at a time to push giant crates back to their start line. Once all six crates were back, each tribe had to move their crates up a staircase to piece them together and spell out “Fans vs. Favorites.” Bikal struggled to get it together after falling behind in the first portion of the challenge, and Gota easily finished without any competition.

When Bikal returned to camp, Phillip told his tribe they did their best and worked together well. Corinne grew increasingly annoyed with Phillip, but she had to continue to put up with him because he would vote with her. Phillip and Matt talked alone, and Phillip said he thought a girl was going home. Michael joined the conversation, and Phillip told them they were both assets to the tribe. Matt had a hard time not laughing at Phillip, but he wanted to put up with it in order to make it through the merge. Julia talked to Michael and Matt away from camp and threw around the idea to vote Dawn out. They agreed, but Matt knew he was going to write Julia’s name down. Corinne and Cochran also talked to Michael and Matt out in the woods, and they were very nonchalant about who to vote for. The four favorites gathered to plot who to vote out – Dawn wanted to vote Matt out, but Corinne and Phillip wanted to vote Julia out instead. To the camera, Corinne was thankful her “gay got saved.” (“God saved the gay,” she said).

At Tribal Council, Jeff asked if the fans thought one of them was going home, and Matt said they did feel that way. When Jeff asked about the bonds as a new tribe, Corinne word vomited all over the place and told him she likes to play with a gay, and these are three people she would like to replace members of her own alliance with. Phillip said he was looking for loyalty, trust, and who would stick with them after a merge. Talk turned to the Immunity Idol, which Corinne admitted to being worried about, since that could easily get rid of one of the favorites from their tribe, and they could lose the majority. Matt said he did not have one. Cochran jumped in and said he agreed with Phillip, called the other tribe the “bold and beautiful tribe,” and said he didn’t think he would be able to penetrate that alliance. Finally, Jeff read the votes – the first two were for Julia, the next was for Dawn, and the next three were for Julia. In the end, it was Matt the group chose to vote out.
