Tonight’s episode of Survivor: Caramoan picked up with the fans at Gota after Hope’s departure. Reynold and Eddie were upset, since they thought Shamar was going home, and they felt alone.
At Bikal, Phillip officially welcomed Brandon “The Conqueror” into “Stealth ‘R Us.” Brandon flat out told us he was lying to Phillip. Andrea started to feel frustrated that Phillip was running around, giving everyone nicknames.
Both tribes met Jeff on the beach for this season’s first Reward Challenge, which was played for a chicken, vegetables, and a visit from a town bushman. The favorites sat Cochran out, and everyone raced into the water to untie knots and release three planks. Once they completed that, they had to use those three planks to move two members of their tribe across three platforms before getting their entire tribe to pile up on top of one little platform and hold the position for five seconds. The favorites pulled through with the win, but Shamar jumped down and shouted, “That’s what I’m talking about!” only to learn his tribe had lost.
The favorites received a visit from the town bushman, who was a tiny little 60-year-old man that got right to work teaching them his tricks. He prepared them an entire feast before working on their shelter.
The fans were disappointed to have lost again. Eddie and Reynold were annoyed that they got back from the challenge, and Shamar went right back to the shelter to sleep. When he woke up, he told everyone they don’t know what it’s like being him and his size, so he told them he would stay if they brought him rice once a day. Then, Shamar scratched his eyeball after a piece of sand got stuck in it. After a rough night in the rain with a rat, everyone was in poor spirits. Shamar’s eye was swollen and puffy, so Jeff and the medics came to take a look. The medics determined he had a scratch on his cornea, and they recommended taking him out of the game to have it looked at, since it could cause vision problems. Jeff called the tribe over and filled them in on the situation. Once he left, his tribe was glad it was over.
Next up was the Immunity Challenge. Jeff told the favorites what happened, since they were all shocked to see Shamar gone. The favorites sat Corinne and Dawn out. During the challenge, each tribe sent one person out at a time to cross floating blocks and swim out to a tower, where they had to jump off and smash a tile to release a key and swim back to shore. The favorites took such a huge lead that they had all five keys before the fans sent their last person out in the water. They had to use the keys to open three different locks in order to open a chest and release beanbags. They had to throw the beanbags across to knock blocks down. Thanks to Reynold, the fans caught up, but the favorites still pulled through with the win and Immunity once more.
Back at camp, Reynold’s tribe mates congratulated him on helping them catch up during the challenge. Matt and Michael walked down the trail together, and Matt posed the idea to vote Laura out, since Eddie and Reynold are stronger in challenges. Michael wasn’t sure he wanted to lose Laura and split up the alliance. Matt told Reynold about their plan. Sherri wasn’t thrilled about the idea and didn’t like that she and Julia would be the last two girls.
At Tribal Council, Jeff asked if Shamar’s departure helped or hurt the tribe. Matt said it was good for the tribe, but they missed him during the challenge. Sherri admitted she missed him because of the alliance. Laura commented that the physical strength votes usually come before everyone has a chance to build relationships, but after 10 days, they built trust. Reynold asked if they were prioritizing winning or prioritizing losing. Eddie said Sherri was one of the weaker players, Julia was one of the strongest girls, and Laura was the weakest. Laura said everyone had to consider if they could trust Eddie and Reynold going forward. Reynold played his Immunity Idol, which Jeff confirmed was real. In the end, it didn’t matter, because the tribe voted Laura out anyway.
