Tonight’s episode of Survivor: Caramoan started out with Reynold telling his tribe that he was no longer saving his Immunity Idol for the team to use, he was going to use it for himself, and that everyone needed him to win. Shamar told Reynold he wrote Shamar’s name down and tried to get rid of him, and Shamar continued to argue with everyone else on his tribe throughout the night. In the morning, Sherri gave Shamar a pep talk and told him to get his emotions under control and essentially play nice with the others. Shamar began to question how much he should be in this game and started to think it wasn’t a good fit for him.
Phillip continued to feel proud of himself for playing this game at 54 years old and worked out as the morning wore on. Meanwhile, Corinne and Malcolm paired up and hunted down the Hidden Immunity Idol, which Malcolm quickly plucked right out of a tree. They buried it and went back to camp after pinky swearing to keep it a secret. Cochran continued to enjoy his time and tried out a hat Phillip concocted to keep cool. Andrea began to notice Malcolm and Corinne having a lot of side conversation. She suggested to Cochran and Phillip they remove Corinne from their alliance and replace her with Brandon, since “he would be just as loyal.” (She must have missed the memo that he is a Hantz).
Over at Gota, Shamar told the others he wasn’t going to be the angry black man on Survivor, and he just wasn’t happy anymore. Laura encouraged him to stay. Shamar told them about the dark place he was in when he returned from his tours in Iraq and told them he wanted to get back to being happy again. Because of Sherri and Laura’s loyalty, Shamar eventually decided to stay, much to Reynold’s dismay.
Next up was the Immunity Challenge, which was also played for two comfortable chairs, pillows, and a tarp. Each tribe had to race out into the water, swim to a cage, and climb up and over to drop down into the water inside. They then had to work together to untie knots and release a gate. Once the gate was released, they dragged a large chest all the way back to the beach. The favorites took an early lead, fell behind, and then caught back up again. Each tribe had to lift their chest up onto a track, toss a rope with a hook on the end, and pull the next section of the track back to move their chests along. In the end, Brandon hooked the third piece of track, and the favorites won immunity and the reward, while Eddie struggled and was unable to hook the last section for the fans.
Yet again, the fans found themselves arguing after a lost challenge. Shamar was upset because he has contacts and needed the goggles and got into another spat with Reynold. Laura was disappointed in her performance, since she was such a slow swimmer. She talked to Matt and Sherri to make the decision to split votes between Hope and Eddie the first time, and then vote Hope out their second vote after the tie. Shamar decided to branch out and make friends with Hope and told her all she would need to do to save herself would be to vote for Eddie. Naturally, Hope told Julia what happened, so Julia reported back to the rest of the alliance. Laura went to Reynold to pose the idea to vote Shamar out if she could convince Julia to do the same.
At Tribal Council, Jeff turned to Reynold to ask how things went after their previous Tribal Council. He immediately brought up Shamar yelling, and Shamar said he is the scapegoat for everything. Hope chimed in and said Shamar told her it was 99% sure she was going home, which Shamar completely denied. Matt tried to stick up for Shamar, but Julia brought up how he yelled at her and told her she was projecting weakness onto him after their last Tribal Council. Shamar denied that as well, and the conversation surrounding Shamar ensued before Jeff finally cut it off for the vote. Eddie chose not to use his Immunity Idol, and Jeff read the votes: it came down to a three-way tie between Hope, Eddie, and Shamar. The tribe then had to vote a second time, choosing one of the three again, but Hope, Eddie, and Shamar were not allowed to vote. Jeff read the votes again, and the group voted Hope out.
