'Survivor: Caramoan - Fans vs Favorites' Episode 2 recap

Tonight’s episode of Survivor: Caramoan started out with Brandon drama. Dawn apologized to him, but it didn’t really matter. He called himself a honey badger and wouldn’t listen to anything Dawn had to say. Eventually, Dawn had to walk off on her own to cry, away from the others. Meanwhile, Brandon told Erik he was feeling “revengeful” and wanted to start playing the game “Russell Hantz style.”

Over at Gota, Shamar rested in the shade to conserve his energy. In his mind, he was showing everyone he didn’t care about the game. The rest of his tribe felt he was lazy. Sherri talked to Shamar to solidify their alliance of six that also included Laura, Julia, Mike, and Matt.

Brandon had a change of heart the next morning and told Cochran he planned to sabotage everything and spill beans around camp or throw challenges but decided against it. Phillip joined in the conversation to share more of his Boston Rob tales. Brandon scurried right back to the others and told them Phillip was being a big bully and that he was calling himself the CEO of the camp.

Both tribes headed to the Immunity Challenge, where Jeff pointed out Francesca had been voted out first, and Gota was shocked at the news. Jeff explained the rules – three tribe members floated on a raft while three other tribe members held and pulled the rope. They had to remove sticks from an underwater mesh contraption attached to another raft in order to release rings. Once they retrieved all nine rings, they rode the raft back to shore. The final three tribe members tossed the rings to try and land them on three poles. They also played for a fishing kit reward. Since they had one extra person, the fans sat Laura out of the Challenge. Even though both teams made it out to the large raft right around the same time, the fans fell far behind while retrieving the rings. Although they came close, the favorites pulled through with the victory when Malcolm landed the first two rings and Phillip landed the third. This also meant they won the fishing gear.

Back at Bikal, Phillip named Malcolm “The Enforcer.” Malcolm thought Phillip’s “Stealth ‘R Us” would be fine for a few days but that he would hang himself if it went on all season.

The fans discussed their challenge shortcomings once they returned to camp. Right away, Reynold told Shamar his behavior was unacceptable, and the two got into a fight in front of the entire tribe. Reynold, Matt, and Eddie went into the woods to talk. Matt told them he was with them, but in all reality, his vote could go with either alliance. Matt spoke to Sherri and Michael about the situation, and Laura came up to join them. They asked her who she wanted to vote out, and she said Allie. Meanwhile, Reynold was on the hunt for an Immunity Idol. Sure enough, it didn’t take long before he found one inside of a tree. He tucked it away in his pocket, but Laura saw the bulge. Since it was right before they left for Tribal Council, Laura wasn’t able to tell the rest of her alliance what she saw.

Jeff welcomed the group to their first Tribal Council. Michael immediately broke down the divisions in the tribe. Jeff asked Shamar his take on the close group of four. He said he thought Eddie and Hope were a couple and the other two were just there. Matt wasn’t concerned by this. Shamar told Jeff he weighs 300 pounds and hadn’t had much to eat before talking about his two tours in Iraq. Mike said their problem in the challenge was that they had too many voices going on and didn’t act as a team. Reynold criticized Shamar for sitting at camp, and Eddie added he was in the shelter for 19 hours the day before while everyone else cooked and kept the fire going. Laura held nothing back in revealing she saw a bulge in a pocket but did not name whose pocket, even though she looked directly at Reynold. Reynold also held nothing back and admitted to having the Idol. He even pulled it out of his pocket to show everyone, and Jeff commented this could change things. Sherri was blown away and reminded everyone she was voting the way she was supposed to. Even though he told everyone he would, Reynold did not use his Immunity Idol. Jeff read the votes – the first four were for Shamar, the next five were for Allie, and the final vote was also for Allie, sending her home. Jeff reminded everybody they needed to get it together and sent them back to camp.
