'Survivor: Cagayan' gets a premiere date

CBS announced today that the next season of "Survivor" will premiere with a two-hour episode on Wednesday, Feb 26 at 8:00 p.m. EST. "Survivor: Cagayan" is the 28th season of TV's best reality competition show, featuring a theme of "Brawn vs. Brains vs Beauty."

The cast has yet to be officially revealed, although has wrangled together most of the known, spoiled cast members. What has been announced is that this season will feature 18 all new players, bunking the previous streak of seasons featuring returning players. The season took place last Summer in the province of Cagayan in the Philippines and will initially feature three tribes of six, separated by contestants that at least perceive themselves as one of the three aforementioned attributes: Those affluent in brawn, brains or beauty.

According to the CBS Press Release, this is the first two-hour premiere episode since "Heroes vs. Villains" back in 2010.

Feb 26 is a bit later than the Spring version of the show usually premieres. We usually hear the new cast announcement right around this time each year, but because of the later start date, it's unclear as to whether or not the cast announcement will be pushed back a few weeks as well.
