This season of "Survivor: Cagayan" has been anything but predictable. There has now been a quitter (Lindsey) and blindsides have been plentiful. We have already seen power shifts, like with the Brains tribe going from weak and pathetic to calling the shots at their new tribe.
This week, we enter into the merge, with yet another blindside promised on the horizon. There is no mention of it in this week's press notes from CBS, but don't forget Jeff Probst's pre-season announcement that post-merge, they will be introducing a "super Idol" of sorts, that has crazy powers for the person who possesses it. Will we see that come into play tonight?
Here is CBS's episode synopsis:
Episode 7 – “Head of the Snake” - IT’S EVERY CASTAWAY FOR THEMSELVES, AS TWO TRIBES BECOME ONE IN THIS SEASON’S MERGE, ON “SURVIVOR,” WEDNESDAY, APRIL 2. It’s every castaway for themselves, as two tribes become one in this season’s merge. Meanwhile, one castaway’s thirst for power could earn them a spot on the jury, and jaws drop as the blindside streak continues, on SURVIVOR, Wednesday, April 2 (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.
Analysis. Upon first glance going into the merge, we have two tribes of five strong: On one side you have Spencer, Kass, Tasha, Morgan and Jeremiah. On the other side you have LJ, Jefra, Trish, Tony and Woo. In the middle? You have Sarah, currently with the first group, but does her true loyalties lie with her fellow police officer, Tony, whom she had formed a "blue blood" alliance with earlier in the game?
Her decision and the "major blindside" expected at tonight's Tribal Council could be related. But there are several factors going into tonight to also consider. Sure, Jeremiah was on the outs, but will he reunite with his former Beauties? Woo was clearly on the bottom, but is he firmly connected to his new tribal alliance? Will the super idol come into play? Or will something...unpredictable...happen?
Let's not forget that both Tony and LJ have hidden Idols, although at this point it looks as if neither have shared this information with anybody else. With Sarah's ties to Tony and considering their two Idols, you would think that things favor Tony and LJ's tribe. But something tells me that it just isn't going to be that simple.
One thing is clear: The merge episode almost always is one of the most exciting of the season, as it sets in motion the overall path the rest of the season will take.
