The premiere also reportedly marks the show's 400th episode to air since it launched in May 2000.
In a tweet on Twitter Probst said:
“#survivor It's also our 400th episode tonight! 400 episodes and just over 400 people have played the game!”
Season 27 of “Survivor” is said to be unlike any that came before it. The season is titled “Survivor: Blood vs. Water,” and will showcase 10 returning castaways from previous seasons and 10 of their family members. In a surprising twist the returning players will be pitted against their family members in the quest to the $1 million grand prize.
Among the returning players are fan favorites like Rupert Boneham, Gervase Peterson, and Tyson Apostol. However, not all of the returning players are being welcomed with open arms by the fans. Colton Cumbie left his season of “Survivor” do to an illness, but no one was sad to see him go. Cumbie made several remarks throughout his time on the show that left people believing that he was racist, but Cumbie assured everyone during the reunion show that the allegations weren't true.
The 90 minute “Survivor: Blood vs. Water” premiere airs on CBS on September 18 at 8 p.m. eastern.
