Tonight’s episode of Survivor: Blood vs.Water picked up with John’s entrance to Redemption Island. Candice and Marissa both told John it wasn’t good to see him there after he commented that at least he could be there with Candice.
Back at Tadhana, the group discussed John’s exit, and Brad preached to everyone about how important it was to keep the tribe members around who had a loved one, since the couples could then team up later on.
In the morning, everyone headed to Redemption Island Arena, and Candice gave Brad the finger on her way in. She told Jeff she was upset and had hoped someone would come in that she could hate and battle against with Marissa, like Brad Culpepper. Jeff went to Monica, who said there wasn’t just one person voting, but Candice said everyone coming to Redemption Island talked about Brad hushing the women. John spoke up and said everyone who had been voted out was Brad’s idea.
They got to the duel, which started out with each person working their way across a ladder and moving a key along a rope. At the end of the rope, they had to unlock their bag of puzzle pieces and get to work on what Jeff described as a very complicated square puzzle. John easily took the lead and won the duel. As Marissa struggled, Candice pulled ahead and finished her puzzle, officially eliminating a tearful Marissa from the game. Gervase said he was impressed with his niece. As the winner, John was able to give the Hidden Immunity Idol clue to anyone he wanted to. Candice suggested John give the clue to Monica, which he did. Monica walked it down and put the clue in the fire, following her own husband, Brad’s, instructions.
John and Candice enjoyed their time together fishing on Redemption Island.
Brad talked to his tribe about what had been going on and continued to ponder the thought of voting Caleb out next. While Brad fished, Hayden, Caleb, and Vytas talked about voting a girl out next and keeping Brad around until the merge in order to keep the heat off them.
Tyson milked his shoulder injury to get out of doing work around camp. He and Gervase developed a routine of sneaking off together to drink coconuts. (They were careful to cut them differently to keep the others fooled). Rupert’s wife, Laura, found a bunch of the evidence, but she and Monica were completely clueless and couldn’t piece two and two together.
Both tribes met once again at the Immunity Challenge, which was also played for a reward of food or fishing gear. Tina and Kat both sat out for Galang. Each tribe paddled their boat out and around their flag before one member dove down to untie rope and release multiple crates, one at a time. Tadhana had the lead but lost two crates in the water, letting Galang overtake them. Once each tribe had all five crates, they had to row their boats ashore and unload the crates. The crates then had to be arranged into a staircase before they could begin working on the puzzle. The puzzle gave them a combination to untie a key and release their flag. Once again, Galang won Immunity and reward.
Brad got right to talking game immediately upon returning to camp. He posed the idea of voting Caleb out to Katie and Ciera. Caleb, Hayden, and Vytas decided to vote Ciera out and called Brad over after realizing he hadn’t joined them at their regular meeting spot – the well. He told them he had the girls convinced they were all voting Caleb out.
Tadhana headed off to Tribal Council yet again, and Brad immediately brought up Ciera’s poor performance during the puzzles. Jeff asked Brad about taking grief from every single person going to Redemption Island. He said it was hard to have the loved ones giving him heat as well and agreed with Jeff when he posed the idea that it might be easier to vote someone out who didn’t have a loved one in the game. Caleb piped up and said he was the low man on the totem pole and told Brad he knew he campaigned against him. Jeff turned to Hayden, who said there were obviously some cracks, and once you distrust someone in the game, it’s hard to get that back. Caleb said he trusted Hayden and Vytas and told the girls he was writing Brad’s name down. Everyone was surprised, but Brad said he wasn’t going to write Caleb’s name down. Caleb was firm on his decision, and everyone headed to vote. Jeff read the votes, and there was a tie between Brad and Ciera, who each received three votes and were not allowed to vote in the next round. Jeff read the votes a second time, and this time, the group voted Brad out. He patted everyone on his way out and told them all he wasn’t mad at them and would try to get back in.
