Tonight’s episode of Survivor: Blood vs.Water started out with Marissa joining Candice and Rupert at Redemption Island. She was still angry, fresh off her blindside, and filled the two in on what happened.
In the morning, Galang lined up and massaged each other’s backs. Colton reverted back to his old self and didn’t want to be with his tribe and started causing drama all over again.
Tadhana was all about game talk – the tribe was excited to have fire, but apparently more excited to discuss the game and their alliances.
All the competitors headed to the arena for Rupert, Candice, and Marissa’s first challenge. Some of the returning players got teary-eyed as they saw their loved ones come in, and Brad tipped his hat to Gervase, acknowledging Marissa’s absence. Marissa gave her former tribe another long stare before filling Gervase in on why she went home. Jeff offered Gervase the chance to switch places with Marissa, but he declined the offer, and the challenge began. During the challenge, each person had to guide a spool through a small, winding, vertical maze and stack 10 spools on top of each other, with the stack remaining in place without being touched for three seconds in order to finish. Rupert lost his stack and had to start over, Marissa moved slowly, and Candice easily finished first. Somehow, Marissa managed to finish second and beat Rupert, sending him completely out of the game first. He said good-bye to his wife, said he didn’t have any regrets because he loves his wife more than the game, tossed his buff in the fire, and left the game. (Wow). Meanwhile, Candice got to choose who to give the Hidden Immunity Idol clue to, and she chose her husband. (Of course).
Back at camp, Candice’s husband, John, was excited to see Candice’s amazing performance during the challenge. The guys talked game away from the women and leaned toward getting rid of Rachel next. They hoped Tyson would switch places with her and weaken his tribe, but John worried Tyson would beat Candice out at Redemption Island.
Rupert’s wife, Laura, was holding up surprisingly well when her tribe returned to camp, but Colton continued to cause drama. He told everyone they were going after each other and tried to cause an argument between Kat and Tina. His entire tribe was against him – they just wanted a peaceful experience and to win.
The next day, Monica, Tina, Gervase, Aras, and Tyson formed their own alliance and agreed to tell each other if Colton said anything about the others.
Both tribes headed off to their second Immunity Challenge. Jeff explained the rules – three members of each tribe rolled one tribe member inside a barrel to different flagpoles. At each flagpole, the person inside the barrel had to untie knots and pick up a bag of balls. Galang had to sit one member out, so they chose Kat, and her boyfriend, Hayden, looked confused at the decision. Both tribes were neck-in-neck as they collected all four bags and returned their barrels to the final stations. Hayden and Gervase each took on the role of rolling the balls up the ramp and also kept things very close. Gervase pulled through, and Galang won Immunity once more, along with plenty of fishing gear as a reward.
Back at Tadhana, Brad had harsh words about Gervase, and the guys once again gathered in the woods. They wanted to get rid of Rachel in the hopes Tyson would take Rachel’s spot at Redemption Island, but John was still very against getting rid of Rachel. They told Ciera they planned to vote Rachel out, but they were telling Rachel to vote out Ciera. Ciera and Katie wondered if they should write John’s name down in case he used an Immunity Idol, and the whole tribe noticed John went off on his own quite a bit.
At Tribal Council, Jeff pointed out the girls being voted out first and asked Hayden if anything was going on with the guys. He said he could see that being a possibility, but he wouldn’t admit to anything for sure. Everyone also discussed the option of voting out someone in the hopes their loved one would switch places with them and weaken the other tribe before they got right to the vote. In the end, the plan remained in place, and it was Rachel who was voted out and sent to Redemption Island.
The episode ended with Rachel joining Marissa and Candice at Redemption Island. She told them the tribe split their votes, and she didn’t think the tribe was going to remain friends going forward.
