Many childcare centers distribute surveys to parents at this time of year in order to prepare for enrollment for the coming year. Parents are asked to fill out surveys that cover every aspect of the quality of the center. These surveys benefit the children, staff, parents, and directors in that parents' opinions are taken into account when improvements need to be made, and the positive comments and approval that are made give a boost to the staff when they know that the parents are happy with the center.
The typical questions that a survey will cover are broad questions about the center's hours of operation, your child's classroom schedule, teacher turn-over, center security, and tuition costs. Parents' feedback about meals and snacks will be covered on the surveys. Parents will be encouraged to provide both positive and negative feedback. Parents should provide suggestions as to the changes that they would like if there is a need to give any negative feedback.
Most surveys include questions about the qualifications of the staff, both directors and childcare teachers/caregivers. Parents will be given the opportunity to express their likes and dislikes about their child's teacher/caregiver. The staff should welcome this feedback in order to make any changes in the way they communicate with the parents about their child. A good survey will ask for parents' ideas and concerns about the frequency of communication from their child's teacher/caregiver, and the format that the communication might take.
Finally, the surveys that childcare centers will distribute to parents will ask for input about the learning environment. Classroom activities will be rated as to being developmentally appropriate and whether the activities meet the social, emotional, physical, and cognitive needs of the child. This section of the survey is important in that childcare centers are the first educational environment that your child will encounter, and should prepare them for entering a pre-k or kindergarten program in the future.
Primrose Childcare Center in the Lakewood Ranch area of Sarasota will distribute surveys to parents beginning February 11. These surveys will be distributed by email to the center's families. Parents are encouraged to return the surveys promptly in order to help the staff prepare for changes that parents would like to have. Primrose Childcare Center prides itself on the surveys that it distributes to its families, and the staff and director welcome the feedback that they receive each year to make the center a welcoming care and educational environment for its children
Parents have a great opportunity to help improve childcare by participating in surveys when they receive them each year. Take care in answering the questions because your input does matter.
