Jose Cespedes of Hialeah was arrested late Thursday evening after the owner of a dog picked Cespedes out of a police line-up as the culprit who stabbed her dog according to CBS Miami.
Cespedes has been charged with animal cruelty with the intent to kill or injure and carrying a concealed weapon.
The boxer dog was safely secured in his own yard on the 4200 block of East 8th Street Lane on Sept.13, when Cespedes, 39, walked by. As the boxer dog began to bark and jump, the family's surveillance video showed a man walked by the yard seemingly unaffected by the dog, remove a knife from his waistband, and stab the dog.
The dog's owner, Lissette Gonzalez witnessed her dog getting stabbed in the shoulder and was able to pick out Cespedes in a police line-up with "no hesitation."
Cespedes denies the charges.
The dog named Zoe needed surgery and six stitches.
Cespedes is being held in jail in lieu of a $26,000 bond and has a prior criminal history of assault with a deadly weapon.
