Surrendered German shepherd, too frightened to leave her kennel

Update 8/22/14: Rescue pending

On August 16, a six-year-old German shepherd named "Phoenix," lost her family and her home when she was surrendered to the Chicago Animal Care and Control facility in Ill.

On Monday morning, the National Dog News Examiner reached out to a shelter volunteer for more information about the dog and the response received was:

they tried to get her out..won't get out of cage..she is nervous

Phoenix is terrified - too frightened to step foot outside of her solitary kennel run - too frightened for general adoption. The facility has designated this beautiful German shepherd as "rescue only" and she will only be released to approved Homeward Bound partners.

Phoenix needs to be in the hands of someone who understands her fear and who is willing to give her time to adjust to the loss of everything that she once knew. Please take a moment to network Phoenix's information:
