Surrendered cocker spaniel with 'cherry eye' passed over for rescue

A four-year-old black and white frightened cocker spaniel sits all alone in a kennel in an overcrowded animal shelter in Atlanta, Ga. as laughing children with their parents holding hands walk by her cage.

"Wow, look at that black and white pretty dog," the little blonde haired girl shouts to her mother as she rushes to the cage, but quickly steps back when she spots the bright pink masses protruding from Linna's eyelid. "We can't afford to fix that puppy," the child's mother quickly replies and walks over to the next kennel where adorable black and tan puppies climb over each other in playful puppy style.

Sadly, the same comments are heard by Linna as rescue workers walk by, but in those cases it's not because they want Linna to die, but funding for Linna's surgery is just so scarce with donations so hard to raise.

And so it was for Linna's owner who just a few days ago, dropped this affectionate four-year-old dog off at the shelter; and with a soft departing pat on the head, Linna's future changed forever.

"Cherry eye" as it is called, is a prolapse of the gland of the third eyelid that can cause discomfort or damage to the eye. In some cases steroid ointments can reduce swelling, but surgery is frequently done to repair the weakness. Read more about this common condition in puppies by clicking here.

Perhaps wondering if Heaven would be the only place to fix her eyes as her time drew closer to being put to sleep, a miracle began to unfold. Angels Among Us Pet Rescue stepped in:

" Hurry he is out of time:( To donate and be a foster you fill out a foster app. We pay all vetting. Go to to donate and find foster app. The surgery is around $500 plus her spay and shots. That is why nobody adopted or rescued this beauty. We hope to with all you generous people. Love to get her today as she is at risk."

And so it has begun to help Linna find a home of her own and get the needed medical intervention to help her get well.

Please share Linna's story with your friends, coworkers, and family. Let's show this dog there is really a Heaven on Earth.
