On October 14th, 2013, ABC Family’s “25 Days of Christmas” Facebook page released their programming schedule which begins airing December 1st. The network has been showing their holiday countdown for several years now, with viewers tuning in each year to a schedule of Christmas movies and holiday classics like “The Santa Clause” and “Dr. Seuss’ How The Grinch Stole Christmas,” among many others. This year, however, the programming scheduled does not include the newer classic “Elf” as well as the original “Home Alone” movies, which many viewers are complaining about in the comments of the ABC Family “25 Days of Christmas” Facebook page.
Also not included this year, to the delight of many it seems, are the “Harry Potter” movies. Many people seemed to be displeased in previous years that these great movies were included in the programming schedule because they aren't Christmas themed, they just include a lone Christmas scene. However, Disney’s “The Little Mermaid” is included in the 2013 schedule to the confusion of many.
New this year to the lineup is an ABC Family original movie called “Holidaze” (starring actress Jennie Garth) as well as an ABC family holiday movie called “Deck the Halls.” Two ABC family original shows, “Baby Daddy” and “Melissa and Joey,” will also get Christmas specials this year.
What are you most excited about watching this holiday season? Are you disappointed that your favorite didn't make the cut?
