The Sacramento Surge opened the 2013-2014 P.A.S.L. season with a 14-6 loss to the visiting Las Vegas Legends. Playing in front of a large crowd cheering on their Surge in the team's new home venure (Estadio Azteca Soccer Arena) the home team decked out in their new kits took to the pitch with a fiery attitude and vigor. The Las Vegas Legends are the 2012-2013 P.A.S.L. Southwestern Division Champions and they showed why by taking it to the Surge early by going up 4-1 in the first period. The Legends' pressing attack offense kept the home team on their heels all afternoon. By half time, the home team was down 8-2 and some changes were needed.
The Surge entered the third period with a new goalie and some much needed burst of enthusiastic offenses. They managed to score three straight goals against the Legends, bringing the game to within three goals. But, the Legends pressing offensive assault continued to bewilder the Surge's defense as the strikers managed to score two quick goals further widening their lead. The game was still competitive and the home team wasn't about to go down with out a fight. Sadly, the goalie play, the lack of an aggressive shot-on-goals and their inability to push the Legends back on the defensive was a key factor in the fourth period. Las Vegas outscored Sacramento 4-1 sealing the victory for the visiting team.
The Sacramento Surge next's game will be at home against the expansion team Bay Area Rosal. Kick-off is scheduled for 7:05 PM this Saturday. Tickets are only $10 in advance or $12 at the door. For more information please visit http://www.sacsurge.com
