Details of the Surface Pro 3 hit the Internet on Sunday morning and fans are already getting ready to line up at Microsoft Stores. In addition to introducing the Surface Mini and the Surface Pro Mini, it looks like Microsoft is set to introduce a larger and thinner 3rd generation Surface Pro.
Microsoft is expected to announce five versions of the Surface Pro 3, all with various configurations and pricing. Besides taking some weight off the previous Surface Pro, the new Surface Pro 3 is rumored to have a a larger screen size with the annoying Windows button located on the vertical side of the device (rather than the horizontal). There are still some unannounced details, but this is the apparent price list:
- i3-4GB RAM-64GB - $799
- i5-4GB RAM-128GB - $999
- i5-8GB RAM-256GB - $1299
- i7-8GB RAM-256GB - $1549
- i7-8GB RAM-512GB - $1949
Larger Type Covers are also rumored to go along with these new Surface Pro units that include a black, purple, cyan, and red options. However, the red color option is reportedly a Microsoft exclusive and may be limited to Microsoft Stores. In addition to the larger Surface Type Covers, there will be mini Surface Type Covers to fit the Surface Mini and Surface Pro Mini devices.
Even though the Microsoft Surface Tablet hasn't seen much success, the Surface Pro 2 is a different story. Not only was it rated as the best gadget of 2013, but the Surface Pro line has a very dedicated following. Many people view the Surface Pro as a perfect combination of a tablet and high-powered laptop.
Microsoft will announce their new devices on Tuesday, May 20. You can bet that the announcement will be a big event in the unexciting (as of late) world of technology. Are you excited about the Surface Pro 3? Tell us in the Comments section.
