The Supreme Court today ruled not to close Chicago area locks to stop the dreaded Asian carp from getting into the Great Lakes.

At least not yet.

This morning the Supreme Court issued a one sentence statement regarding Michigan’s suit over Asian carp:

"The motion of Michigan for preliminary injunction is denied."

While this action means that the Court will not order an immediate closure of the locks on the Chicago Diversion, it does not mean that no action will be taken in the case. There is still a significant possibility that the Court will issue a decision regarding Michigan’s broader requests for action on this issue.
