When the US House originally voted on the first pass of the dreadful National Defense Authorization Act back in May, I tried to give Rep. Kristi Noem a temporary pass and wait until the final version made its way back to the House.
With the ferocious national outrage over this bill that came about after the Senate debated this extreme assault on the constitutional rights of all Americans, some had hoped that our newest Representative Kristi Noem may have woken-up to the possible dangers that it imposes. Of course, the rest of us did not have much hope at all that the supposed Tea Partier would do anything different than what the establishment expected of her which was just to go along with the flow and vote against the rights of We The People.
On Wednesday, December 14th, the US House of Representatives had a final vote on NDAA and once again Rep. Kristi Noem voted "Aye". It must be noted that this final version had very little changes at all from the Senate version that had caused such national outrage. Pathetically, it actually turned out to be yet another South Dakota trifecta of Sen. John Thune, Tim Johnson and Rep. Kristi Noem that once again all voted the wrong way on another piece of dreadful legislation.
This just further illustrates the point that voting for an (R) or a (D) behind someone's name makes not a hill of beans difference when it comes to the most serious issues of unconstitutional behavior by the critters in Washington, DC. Until voters have the courage to take party blinders off and start properly vetting the particular individual they are considering voting for, absolutely nothing will ever change for the better.
In our last election, the Independent candidate B. Thomas Marking had worked out all the details of a system that would have enabled the people of South Dakota to vote before he voted. With all the outrage on this particular bill, it is too bad that more people had not voted for this man that was obviously more qualified to send to Washington and at least was willing to actually represent the will of the people.
Maybe next time, people will stop continuing to be blinded by the little letter behind a candidate's name and actually have the sense to vote for whom they really think would be the best candidate for the job. I stopped voting by the letters years ago. Hopefully, more will join me in the next election and stop making the same mistakes expecting a better outcome. If not, we deserve exactly the type of government that we have now.
