Every bit helps. As a professional in the beauty business, it can be tough to make ends meet while loving what you do for a living. However, it is the LOVE that we have for our job that keeps us in it. If it were about the money, almost not of us would be doing what we do right now. I recently had a client that told me that she was going to make it a point to support small businesses this year. I told her that I thought that would be a great idea. She then looks at me and tells me that I am one of the small businesses that she is supporting. This was quite an unexpected blessing. Ithought about this after she left and realized that just as much as I needed that blessing, I could return the favor for other small businesses in my area. So this is my goal for the holiday season and whenever possible in the coming year. I will continue to support small businesses to help them thrive and prosper just as I want to in my nail business.
Sometimes it takes a nudge from someone else to make you realize what you should be doing. I always complain about these chains and how corporate they are and all they see is a dollar, not a person. Customer service has gone out of the window, because you hire people to fill a position and not to TAKE CARE of your customers. However, when you run our own business and you are there because it is what you love and your actually enjoy being at work, you greet customers with a warm smile, you ask them ,"How may I help you?", and you help them out to their cars if they need help. You do this because your happy. Not just because you are receiving a pay check.
The next time that you go into a store and you are not greeted properly or someone walks past you like you are invisible, think about if this is where you want to spend you rhard earned money. I know I do, and I am fast to let managememt know why I will not be returning. If I had a pleasant experience, I will refer everyone that I know. Im not doing this to hurt anyone's job, but I bet it will make upper manangement more aware of their customers wants and needs. It is something that I notice we have gotten away from in America.
This holiday, make your list, check it twice and google some local small businesses to see if they have what you need. If so, stop in. You may be suprised at what you might find. Like a BIG SMILE! : D
Looking for the perfect gift?
A Gift Certificate for a manicure and pedicure would be great for that person who takes care of everyone else, but would never purchase one for themself.
