Houston area craft beer fans have much cause for celebration. The city boasts a growing and thriving craft beer culture that is still in the midst of expansion, bringing more options to craft beer fans each day. Now, several beer- related businesses are joining forces this Saturday to give back in support of an important cause. Here is some background information:
Event: Fundraiser for Robert Garner Scholarship Fund
Location: Houston midtown- area taverns
Date and Time: Saturday, December 7, 2013 from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m.
This fundraiser is a pub crawling event to benefit the Robert Garner Scholarship Fund and everyone age 21 and up is invited. Robert Garner was one of four firefighters who lost their lives on May 31, 2013 while battling a deadly hotel fire. The charity that bears his name was founded in his honor and it works to support local fire academies.
Houston’s Karbach Brewing heads up this fundraising effort with pub crawl stops planned at Little Woodrow’s, Dogwood, Midtown Drinkery, 3rd Floor Bar, and Celtic Gardens. These five establishments will be visited in the order above with the final stop at Celtic Gardens scheduled for approximately 6:15 p.m. Karbach employees plan to take part in the event at each stop on the pub crawl and each of the above establishments has pledged to donate proceeds of select Karbach draft sales to the charity. Local fire crews plan to add to the fundraising effort through sales of commemorative shirts, pint glass, and koozies.
The Robert Garner Scholarship Fund is a great cause and the above five establishments, along with Karbach Brewing, are generously awaiting your attendance this Saturday. Stop by and join in the pub crawl and show your support for this commendable charity and the firefighters who courageously protect us from harm each day.
