D. Anson Brody is a very talented singer/songwriter with a unique vision concerning his art. You can be a participant in this musician's dream by supporting his current project, the "Open Source Year", in which he will release an original song every week for a whole year. 52 songs in a year, that is pretty amazing in itself. But, it is even more amazing when you actually hear the music that Brody produces. At the end of this year, his fans will vote on which songs to include on his next album. But, "Open Source Year" is more than just a new song every week. Each week the source files for the song will be released under Creative Commons Copyright, encouraging others to freely mix, remix, reinterpret, and build upon Brody's work at no cost. Local artist Angie Walters will illustrate each week's song in a series of postcards.
His goal is to raise $10,000 by March 8th to fund this project. He is well on his way to accomplishing this goal, already surpassing $3,200. There are various rewards for different levels of donations, including autographed CD's, t-shirts, and postcards, with private concerts and custom built instruments awarded for larger contributions. The base level donation is only $5, making this project accessible to everyone. This is a very worthwhile cause - making D. Anson Brody's music available for the world to enjoy. You can see Anson perform live at Poor David's Pub on Saturday, March 30.
