Here is a great way to celebrate the Winter Solstice, shop for Christmas gifts, support a local (Albany area) business, and help pets. Today and tomorrow, December 21 and 22, Benson’s Pet Centers have many great deal on pet foods, pet accessories, and a tree you can help decorate to support a local animal advocacy group or shelter.

Deals

All cardboard cat scratchers are 20% off. Save your furniture and give the kitties a safe way to scratch off excess claw growth. Scratching also keeps kitties fit by stretching and flexing their long muscles.
Pet food is on sale. Save $5.00 on select bags of dry pet food including California Natural, Evo, and Innova. You can also stock up with free offers. When you purchase any 26 lb. to 30 lb. bags of Innova, California Natural, Evo, or Healthwise dog or cat food, you will receive a free 2.2 lb. to 6.6 lb. bag of the same food.

Pet beds and bedding are are great gift and they are on sle, too. Save big from a wide selection for your four footed friend.

Are you a fish or reptile parent? There are deals for the non-furry pets, too. If your fish friend needs a new home, you can save over 30% on many aquariums and aquatic accessories. That can mean over $70 off depending on size. If you buy an Aqueon Quiet Flow Filter 20, you’ll get a free 20 gallon fish tank. This set up is the perfect gift for a child just learning the responsibility of easy pet care.

All reptile, bird, and small animal accessories are 25% off with the purchase of a reptile, bird, or small animal home.
Ice B’Gone Magic is a pet and environmentally friendly way to melt ice on steps, sidewalks, and driveways. For this weekend, Brennan Landscaping will donate $1 for every 50 lb. bag, or $.50 for every 25 lb. bag or 10 lb. shaker purchased from Benson’s to the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society in Menands.

Best of all, you can support local pet shelters and advocacy groups but purchasing ornaments for Benson store Christmas trees. Ornaments are only $1.00 and the donations will support a different group from each Benson’s location. Colonie goes to Orange Street Cats; Clifton Park to Rottie Empire Rescue; Saratoga to Animal Support Project; Queensbury to Forever Home Greyhound; and Pittsfield to Berkshire Humane Society. Show your support for the work of a local animal support group.

All Benson stores will be open 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Christmas Eve, closed Christmas Day, open 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on New Years Eve, and open noon to 6 p.m. on New Years day.
