Support groups invaluable for special needs parents

Support groups for parents raising children with special needs provide parents a sense of connectivity and community.  Only the parent of a special needs child can truly understand and appreciate the craziness and stress that goes on at home.  Whether it is special education troubles or adaptive sports, issues with medication or various therapies, having a group of fellow parents who understand what your family is like, is huge.

When parents find a group they really connect with, the isolation and sense of overwhelm melt away.  It is amazing to discover that the challenges you face at home are very similar to those in other families.  Sometimes you will even find that other parents have gone through a similar situation and can help guide you through it.

These groups are invaluable to those who are involved in them and to those parents who do not yet have a support or parent group to call home I highly recommend joining one.
