Tomorrow, nearly 1,000 telecom executives, vendors and partners will descend upon Vail for Adaptive Spirit's 19th Annual Event, slated for Apr. 3-6 at the Vail Cascade Resort.

Held each year in Vail, this event provides a series of educational forums and networking sessions for attendees and gives the telecom industry a unifying mission to support the U.S. Paralympic National Ski Team.

Since the event's inception, the Adaptive Spirit Committee agreed this annual event would double as both a networking event for the industry and a fundraising event to generate proceeds to offset training costs for aspiring and competing Paralympians.

To date, the event has raised nearly $10 million dollars to support the U.S. Alpine, Nordic, Biathlon and (new this year) Snowboard teams. This year's marquee fundraising event will take place on Saturday, April 5 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Golden Peak in Vail. Executives from companies like ARRIS, Cisco, Ericsson, Cox, NBC and HBO will pair up with Paralympians like Alana Nichols, Mark Bathum, Andy Soule, Jon Lujan, Laurie Stephens and Stephanie Jallen to form a four-person ski team to compete in a timed downhill competition. The event is free and open to the public.

According to Adaptive Spirit, "the connection between the cable industry and the U.S. Paralympic National Ski Team was formed in 1996 when cable industry executives recognized the need for the Paralympic Ski Team to secure additional funding to continue operations and opportunities for disabled athletes. After its formation in 2011, Adaptive Spirit continued the industry support of this group and now, not only does Adaptive Spirit secure funding for the team's operating budget, Adaptive Spirit is dedicated to increasing knowledge of the U.S. Paralympic National Ski Team and the Paralympics among key constituents. The intent is to attain additional public support for the team while attracting corporate sponsorships and media exposure for these remarkable athletes."
