Supersuckers set to rock The House of Bricks on February 4

The self-professed "Greatest Rock 'n' Roll Band in the World" is coming to Des Moines to grace the stage at The House of Bricks.  The Supersuckers are slated to headline a loud night of music at the East Village rock venue on February 4.  The doors will open at 7 pm, and the show will start at 8 pm.  The Spittin' Cobras and Jacob County & the Damaged Goods will be the openers for the night.

Tickets for the Supersuckers show at The House of Bricks (525 East Grand Avenue, Des Moines) are $15 in advance and $18 at the door.  Tickets may be purchased online through MidwesTix.  You must be 21 to attend this concert.

Supersuckers formed in Tucson, Arizona in 1988 while the members were all in high school.  Originally a five-piece band, the band trimmed down to a four-piece when they made the move north to Seattle in 1989.  After a more than ten years of toiling with record company disputes, the band started their own label, Mid-Fi Recordings, in 2001.

Supersuckers currently consists of Eddie Spaghetti (born born Edward Carlyle Daly III) on vocals and bass, Dan "Thunder" Bolton and "Metal" Marty Chandler on guitars,  and Scott "Scottzilla" Churilla on drums.  The band not only calls themselves the "Greatest Rock 'n' Roll Band in the World", but also refers to themselves as being a "human cartoon" on their Facebook page.  If you look at the band's 18 album titles (and covers) over the years, that statement makes a lot of sense.

While the Supersuckers have not released a studio album since 2008's Get It Together, the band has periodically released live material in recent years, and Spaghetti has released 2 solo albums since then, as well.  Supersuckers have never been known for commercial radio success, but have made their mark with their scorching live shows.  You have to be pretty good to land birthday shows for Eddie Vedder and Joey Ramone.  Check out the Supersuckers performing "Evil Powers of Rock n Roll" live in Anaheim in the accompanying video box.
