Things are heating up as the season winds down on the CW's paranormal drama "Supernatural". While Castiel has played a minor role this season it appears his end story is going to start unraveling more and more. According to an article published at TV Line March 19, 2013 Cas will be playing a role in Sam's trials but he won't be agreeing with the Winchester brothers for very long. Misha Collins told TV Line: "Cas will be pursuing his own objectives that are not on the same path as Sam and Dean." That has been happening a lot in the past few seasons but one must wonder if he is making his own choices or if the angels are making him follow their will.
There has been tiny snippets this season of Amanda Tapping playing an angel liasion between heaven and Castiel and recently Cas has made his intention clear that despite the devastation he dealt in heaven he would like to return, but Tappings character made it clear that was NOT going to happen.
We do know that Misha Collins has signed back on as a series regular for season nine of Supernatural - perhaps his own direction carries over into next season.
