'Supernatural' season 9 spoilers: Dean and Crowley's trip and Sam's new problem

"Supernatural" season 9 may currently be on hellatus, but that doesn't mean that you have to wait for a tease of what's coming up next, as on Thursday, Jan. 2, the CW released an official description for episode 11, "First Born."

In this upcoming "SPN" episode, Timothy Omundson from "Psych" will be guest starring as Cain, and it all connects to Dean (Jensen Ackles) trying to save Sam (Jared Padalecki). As revealed in the description for the first new episode of the year, "Road Trip," Dean turns to Crowley (Mark Sheppard) for help to save his brother, and when you're dealing with the King of Hell, you're going to have to be willing to trade favors. Well, that favor comes into play in what happens in "First Born."

In the Jan. 21 episode, Crowley is preparing for a battle that we've been hoping would happen – one with Abaddon (Alaina Huffman), and he needs a certain weapon in order to take her down. Cain just happens to be the guy who has it, and that sets up a road trip that is bound to have some amusing moments.

Meanwhile, the part of the episode description for Sam does seem to reveal what happens when they try to rescue him in "Road Trip," but he's not out of the woods yet. Will there be any lasting consequences for Sam in the end?

Here's the official description of episode 911, "First Born," written by Robbie Thompson and directed by John Badham:

"Looking to reclaim his place as King of Hell, Crowley (Mark Sheppard) asks Dean (Jensen Ackles) for help finding "The First Blade," the only blade that can kill Abbadon (guest star Alaina Huffman). Knowing he owes Crowley a favor for helping Sam (Jared Padalecki), and also wanting Abaddon dead himself, Dean reluctantly agrees and the two set off on a road trip. However, Dean and Crowley are completely unprepared when they find out who has the blade – Cain (guest star Omundson), the first son. Meanwhile, Sam is back at the bunker with Castiel (Misha Collins) who notices there is some leftover grace inside Sam. If they can extract it, they can use the grace to track Gadreel. The only problem is the procedure may do permanent damage to Sam."

"Supernatural" season 9 airs Tuesdays at 9 p.m. on the CW. "First Born" airs Jan. 21. What are you hoping to see in episode 11?
