"Supernatural" season 9 ends next week with episode 23, "Do You Believe in Miracles." On Tuesday, May 13, the CW released a new preview teasing what to expect in this season's finale, which the network has described as "shocking" in its official description.
In the penultimate episode of the season, angels acted as suicide bombers and said it was in Castiel's name, and Dean stopped Tessa before she could do the same. However, she told him that Castiel came to her and explained that she said yes because she couldn't take the screams from the souls who couldn't get into heaven before impaling herself on the First Blade. Yes, Dean brought the First Blade along even though Sam practically begged him not to. Then, when Metatron turned to the angels with an offer of amnesty, they seemingly took it when Castiel refused to punish Dean for what they saw as him killing Tessa.
As it turned out, the angels were part of Metatron's elite unit, and when Gadreel realized that, he went to Sam, Dean and Castiel and offered to help by giving them Metatron. Dean held out his hand to shake it before slicing his chest with the First Blade, and Sam and Castiel could only try to hold him back.
In the last "Supernatural" episode of the season, Dean feels the effects of the First Blade. Meanwhile, Sam, Dean and Castiel face shocking consequences when they take the fight to Metatron, who makes his move against humanity.
The "Do You Believe in Miracles" promo is basically all about Dean and the effects of the Mark of Cain/the First Blade. We've seen what it's been doing to him, but how far is he going to go in the finale? Will Sam be able to get through to him before it's too late? "I get this high, and I want to kill," Dean says. "It's the mark," Crowley explains. "The more you kill, the better you feel." Will Dean kill Metatron? If he does, what will be the cost?
"Supernatural" season 9 airs Tuesdays at 9 p.m. on CBS. What do you think of this episode 23 "Do You Believe in Miracles" preview?
