It's official! "Supernatural" has been renewed for a tenth season. In an announcement made Thursday, February 13, 2014, CW president Mark Pedowitz gave the series the green light for another season stating, "This season we've had great success with our new hit series 'The Originals' paired with 'Supernatural,' giving us our best Tuesday nights in years."
He's not exaggerating. A recent episode, entitled 'First Born,' scored the highest ratings for the series since 2010. Subsequent episodes of "Supernatural" have also gone on to gather excellent numbers.
CW president Mark Pedowitz has indicated that he would love to see the series continue for many seasons. During the network's TCA tour in January of this year, Pedowitz stated that, as long as the ratings remain where they are and both stars of the series agree, he sees no reason why the series wouldn't progress into a tenth season and beyond.
"Supernatural," which premiered in 2005, focuses on two brothers (played by Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles) who travel across the United States in their Impala hunting for all things supernatural. The series has performed so well that it's spawning its own spin off, "Supernatural: Tribes" which is set to premiere later this season as an embedded pilot.

"Supernatural" airs Tuesdays at 9 EST/8 CST on the CW Network.
