Like "The Vampire Diaries" and "Arrow," this episode is going to introduce the setting of the potential spin-off, originally titled "Supernatural: Tribes" before its new name, "Supernatural: Bloodlines." There will be several familiar faces to both CW and "Supernatural" fans. Nathaniel Buzolic is Kol, Stephen Martines was Frederick and Sean Faris was "Ben" on "The Vampire Diaries," and Melissa Roxburgh was in the "SPN" episode "Time After Time" in season 7 and has had roles on "Arrow" and "The Tomorrow People."

In this backdoor pilot, written by Andrew Dabb and directed by Robert Singer, Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) head to Chicago and find various mafia-esque monster families running the underbelly of the city. The shapeshifter family is run by Margo Lassiter (Danielle Savre), whose leadership is thrown into question when her brother David (Buzolic) returns home. The werewolf family is run by Julian Duval (Faris). Sam and Dean meet Ennis (Lucien Laviscount), a man with a personal vendetta against the monsters, and while they warn him about getting into the hunting lifestyle, he refuses to listen and starts down a dangerous path.

The "Bloodlines" photos in the slideshow offer a look at Sam and Dean with these new characters, as well as a glimpse at these new characters' lives in Chicago. Who (or what) is that hooded figure attacking David? Is it possible that Ennis is hunting whatever that is and saves David? Plus, get a look at David with Violet Duval (Roxburgh), Julian not looking so happy with his sister, Sam and Dean talking to Ennis and more.

"Supernatural" season 9 airs Tuesdays at 9 p.m. on the CW. "Bloodlines" airs April 29. What do you think of these episode 20 photos?
