When it comes to internationally famed supermodels, Kate Upton reigns high on the list. Just in time for getting ready for beach season, Kate's trainer David Kirsch is sharing her disciplined diet secrets in an interview with Elle magazine. It's not easy - but it works, says David, author of "The Ultimate New York Body Plan: Just 2 weeks to a total transformation" (click for details) and "Sound Mind, Sound Body: David Kirsch's Ultimate 6 Week Fitness Transformation for Men and Women."

David describes Kate as "amazing about the diet. She does a few egg whites with spinach for breakfast, and when she wants to, she does a 48-hour cleanse."

Part of that discipline means avoiding sugar, alcohol and processed carbohydrates, says David. And he's a believer in the benefits of going gluten-free for everyone. "By the nature of what she eats, it is gluten free. I have both my daughters on gluten-free diets and you can see the difference. They are only four years old and it definitely changes their mood. You can see that for sure."

What about exercise? It's both intense and extreme, David declared.

We do extreme, intense circuit training. We do three or four circuits and change them up a lot. There’s lots of core, butt, and thigh shaping and toning. We work with resistance bands, stability balls, do lateral lunges for the inner thighs, and for arms we do boxing. She has her own pair of boxing gloves, and she will beat me up. She loves it! It’s a very efficient way to work out and get your cardio in.

The good news for those of us mere mortals who want to shape up: You can get a lot of benefits in minimal time, notes David. "Do a couple of high intensity circuits a day." He suggests working out in the morning, even if it's just "10 or 15 minutes."

Do better with someone to guide you? David's created a series of fitness DVDs specifically for that purpose. They include "David Kirsch's Ultimate New York Body Plan" and "David Kirsch's Sound Mind Sound Body Ultimate Fitness Boot Camp."
